Manggrove Forest with All Function

03 July, 2011

Mangrove forest that grow above the brackhis water marsh located on the coastline and are influenced by tidal sea water. This forest grows, especially in places where the slurry and accumulation of organic material. Both in the sheltered bays of the onslaught of the waves, as well as around the mouth of the river where the water slows down and settles out of mud brought from upstream. Mangrove forest ecosystem is unique, both because of the slurry which resulted in a lack of soil aeration, high soil salinity, as well as experienced cycle tidal in undulation by sea water. Only a few plant species survive in a place like this, and this species is typical of most mangrove forests because it has been through process of adaption an evolution.
Function as follows :
1. Habitat for endangered species.
Mangrove are often the habitat that wildlife species. More than 100 species of bird live here and extensive land border with mud that the mangrove forest is a place of landing of thousand bird mild coastal migrants including bird species Blekok Asia.

2. Protection against natural disaster
Mangrove forest vegetation to protect building, agricultural crops or natural vegetation from damaged by storms or salt-laden air through filtration process.

3. Siltation
The physical properties of plants in mangrove forests help to siltation process. Siltation is closely related to the removal toxins and water nutrients, because these materials are often bound to the sludge particles. With the mangrove forests, sea water quality a wake from silt erosion.

4. Nutrient enhancer.
The physical properties of mangrove forest tend slow the water floe and sedimentation along with this deposition process occurs nutrient derived from various sources, including leaching from agricultural areas.

5. Fastening Poison
Many toxins that enter the aquatic ecosystem in a state bound to the surface of the mud or are in between the lattice water molecules soil particles. Some species in the mangrove forest and even help the process of actively toxic belay.

6. Natural resources in the region (In-Situ0 and the Outer Area (Ex-Situ)
The result of natural in-situ include all fauna and result of mining or mineral that can be used directly in the region. While ex-situ natural resources include natural products in the mangrove forests and transported/ transferred to other areas which is then used by communities in the area, a source of food for others organisms or provide other functions such as increasing the beach area because of removal of sand and mud.

7. Transportation
In some mangrove forests, transport through water is the most efficient and most suitable to the environment.

8. Source of Germplasm
Germplasm of wildlife is very beneficial both for the improvement of commercial species of animals and to maintain wildlife population themselves.

 9. Recreation and Tourism
Mangrove have atheistic value, both from natural factors and of life in it.

 10. Educational and Research
Effort development of science and technology requires a good field laboratory forest search and educational activities.
